The Strong Museum’s Happiest Hour Arcade Event

Want to have a chance to join up with your friends and challenge them to a game on your favorite arcade cocktail table at the Strong Museum of Play? The Rochester, NY-based gaming museum has devised an expert plan to raise money for its projects: invite in area adults and let them play the games in the museum to their heart’s content…for a fee of course.

The Strong Play Makers Group

The Strong Play Makers are a group of young professionals who volunteer their time to further the museum’s outreach into the community. The museum has specific goals concerning community education, but funds are needed to meet their budget. The group has decided to host the first “Happiest Hour” event on Wednesday, August 26th, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

What Can You Expect at the Event?

The event will cost adults 21 years of age and older $10 if they buy a ticket in advance at the Strong’s website, or $12 at the door.  Local sponsors have partnered with the museum to make the night one to remember. Marshall Street Bar and Grill will provide complimentary snacks and appetizers. Roc Brewing Co. will be on site offering drafts of their latest brews at the cash bar.

As far as the entertainment portion of the night, classic arcade cocktail tables may be available for play, but don’t expect to be staring at a screen the whole time. The theme of the Strong Museum is to play, and that includes adults. There will be an obstacle course where young-at-heart adults can shoot their opponents in a foam dart battle. Attendees will also be able to practice their sword handling in reality, with instruction from the Rochester Fencing Club.

For a date night, a guy’s night or a girl’s night sure to please everyone involved, start making plans to attend the Strong’s first “Happiest Hour” event. Remember, all proceeds go towards a worthwhile cause.
