Dave & Buster’s in the News Again: Expansion is Coming to Ann Arbor, Michigan

Just in case Ann Arbor, Michigan residents feel they’re missing out on the chance to play a round of cocktail arcade games at an arcade geared towards adult (and kid) entertainment, Dave & Buster’s has plans to change that. The arcade-themed restaurant chain currently has 76 locations throughout the United States and Canada, and Ann Arbor is on the top of their list for Michigan expansion. The company is currently interested in commercial real estate totaling up to 40,000 square feet in the Ann Arbor area – quite a few arcade games could fit in a restaurant that big.

How Will the Competition Stack Up?

Dave & Buster’s is not the only arcade restaurant targeting Ann Arbor for their next devoted customer base. Revel & Roll, previously known as Colonial Lanes, is reopening with a renewed focus on games and food as well as bowling. How will the two competing businesses fare against each other, and will they actually feel the need to compete? Colonial Lanes was traditionally a bowling alley first, while Dave & Buster’s is primarily known for its arcade game offerings and ticket prizes. Time will tell if residents prefer a locally-owned business or decide to spend their time off at the North American restaurant gaming giant instead.

Dave & Buster’s Features

Mostly adults frequent Dave & Buster’s, but minors are allowed during certain time frames if they are accompanied by an adult. However, after 11 p.m. on weekend nights, only 21 and older are permitted. Dave & Buster’s has a presence in Michigan already, with locations in Grand Rapids, Luvonia and Utica. While no official statement from the company has been released, it seems that past success reaching Michigan markets are prompting the Dallas-based chain to make bold moves towards establishing a new customer base by offering a fun getaway for the residents of Ann Arbor.
