Get Ready for Batman v Superman: Play the Game

Gone are the days when upright video game machines were used simply for entertainment. Today, video games have become a major marketing tool as well. For example, there is no chance you haven’t heard of the upcoming DC Comics film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It’s one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year. But film trailers and billboards aren’t enough anymore.

The Wayne Investigation

Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics have partnered with Amazon and created The Wayne Investigation, a game in the “choose your own adventure style” with a plotline based on finding the truth behind the deaths of Thomas and Martha Wayne, Bruce Wayne’s parents.

While the game is surely going to build momentum for those interested in seeing the film, it’s a win for Amazon as well. In order to play the game at all, you have to purchase either an Amazon Echo speaker or an Amazon Fire TV with Alexa. Alexa is the equivalent of Siri in the Amazon device world and Alexa also serves as the platform on which gamers navigate The Wayne Investigation.

Using Alexa’s voice command as your guide, you can make up to 37 decisions as you move through the self-directed role-playing game. You are present in Gotham, right after Wayne’s parents were murdered. You have to question individuals and find clues to piece together the mystery. It may take you up to 40 minutes, depending on the paths you choose – a relatively lengthy duration for a game that is entirely free.

Will the Game Reveal the Movie’s Plot?

For those interested in finding out if the game is going to reveal any details about the film ahead of time, all you need to know is this: some of the top DC Comics writers were involved in the game’s production, as well as director Zack Snyder’s production company. You can safely bet that whatever information is revealed by the end of The Wayne Investigation, it will most likely tie into the upcoming film as well, giving you powerful motivation to purchase some Amazon devices, if you don’t already have access to Alexa.

Purchase your tickets in advance for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, premiering on March 25th in the U.S. – it isn’t a film you’re going to want to miss.
